Program Description

The program offers a 15-credit minor in Health Policy for Cornell undergraduates outside of the Brooks School majors. Health policy minors apply concepts from sociology, demography, and economics to provide a focused analysis of policy issues in the healthcare industry.

Admissions

To declare any minor within the Brooks School please fill out the "Intention to Minor in the Brooks School of Public Policy form" found on the Brooks School website.

Academic Policies

  • There can be no substitution for any of the required courses.
  • Students must enroll in the PUBPOL section of the course. Cross-listed sections are not applicable.
  • Students must earn a grade of B- or better in every course. S/U will only be accepted if it is the only grade option available.
  • PUBPOL Special studies courses (PUBPOL 4000, PUBPOL 4010, PUBPOL 4020, PUBPOL 4030) do not count towards the Health Policy minor.
  • Policy Analysis and Management (PAM), Public Policy (PUBPOL) and Health Care Policy (HCP) majors are not eligible to complete the Health Policy minor.
  • Students cannot complete both the Policy Analysis and Management and Health Policy minors.
  • Keeping track of courses required and completed is the student’s responsibility. Students will not be assigned a Brooks School advisor.  
  • Once a student enrolls in their final course, students must complete the "application to graduate with a minor in Brooks form" found on the Brooks School Website
